I don’t know which came first in this delightful trio of paintings by Watermill tutor Belinda Biggs. But aren’t they fun? You can almost read the subjects’ personalities as they strut about. (Well, perhaps not the eggs, but I’m sure that feather is slowly drifting down.)
We’ll have to see if we can find some poultry when Belinda visits usfor a week-long course this summer. One of the girls in the village keeps chickens and I am sure we can coax a few models along!
Belinda has promised a laid-back approach to painting the glorious scenery surrounding the Watermill, as well as everyday objects. You can’t get much more everyday than a hen.
You will be painting with pen and wash, watercolour, and coloured pencils, producing evocative paintings like Belinda’spen and wash study below of flower-bedecked steps in Umbria, Italy.

Or how about an everyday object like this terracotta wall plaque?

Belinda will be with us for a week from Saturday 8 July until Saturday 15 July 2023. Here’s a comment from one of her previous students: “I find Belinda to be an excellent teacher who is very generous in sharing her wealth of expertise. She is always kind, patient and encouraging. I am blessed to spend time with her and continue to be inspired by her incredible works.”
***Don’t forget you will be Cool and Green at the Watermill: all our public rooms (including the studio) and all our bedrooms are air-conditioned, powered by our hidden array of photovoltaic panels which make us self-sufficient in electricity.
