Yes, tutor Pamme Turner has come up with another innovation for Watermill painting courses. Following her week here earlier this month, Pamme is suggesting that her students do some post-course homework.
Relax! It is not obligatory. It will be great fun. And, we hope, it will bring back memories of our course participants’ time with us.
Pamme says: “This assignment is only for fun. From the photo reference above I would like you to provide two 8â€x10†or 10â€x14†paintings, using two or more techniques you learned more about during your week (e.g.in watercolours or gouache) or using special colour combinations (such as ‘green’ palette mixes, ‘shadow’ colour mixes for watercolours or ‘Opera pink/gouache ‘layering techniques.)†If you want to use any other art techniques, such as oils, acrylics, pastels or even collage, please do.
Pamme adds: “Have a good time with your paintings! Keep loose and remember we are just ‘interpreting’ the photo/s–so no need for lots of details.“
If you’d like to take on this fun painting challenge — your ‘Posara homework assignment’ — just send the images to Pamme at pturner@saddleback.edu. She will compile and post your paintings/artwork and share them with the Watermill team, and I will make a blog and Facebook post.
As I said in the beginning, this is by no means obligatory, but it’s a lovely way of prolonging the memories of your week-long stay with us. You could call it a holiday post sales service (By the way, there is nothing to stop anyone who didn’t come on the course making some paintings from the reference photograph and Pamme and I would love to see them.)
And, of course, I have to tell you about ‘the real thing.’ Pamme will be back with us next year for another of her inspiring courses where you can enjoy her enthusiasm and teaching skills at first hand. Why not join Pamme’s 2023 course, not just for inspiring tuition, but also a spectacular setting, warm hospitality, stunning painting locations, delicious food and wine and the convivial company of like-minded people.
And there is another bonus: if you book a place on Pamme’s course before 1 September 2022 you can enjoy this 2023 course at 2022 prices. But to be sure of your place, now is the time to book: six people have already made their reservations.
