I never cease to be amazed at the skill and dexterity of our guests on our knitting weeks as they work away on the projects designed for them by our inspirational tutors. And do you know they often do it without looking! Not only that, they have amazing mathematical skills, able easily to make complicated calculations and to understand complex patterns. The end result is simply stunning.
But we have been particularly impressed by one of the guests on this week’s course with tutor Norah Gaugham. She is Helen Connington, from the city of Hull in the north-east of England, whose career a Nurse Practitioner has bought a fresh and fascinating dimension to her the knitted creations.
Above you can see what I call Helen’s ‘X-ray pullover,’ the evocation in wool of what lies beneath the skin of wearer, ribs, body parts and all. And here’s an ‘ECG’ pattern, designed and knitted by Helen. I am told by those in the know that if you look carefully, you can see a blip the heart rhythm, caused by the love of the wearer’s life passing by.
Thank you, Helen, for sharing those fascinating creations with us, and to all on Norah’s course for making this such an inspiring and convivial week.
We have a couple more knitting weeks, with a few places still available (see below), and we would love you to join us for knitting fun, friendship and creativity.
