Here are a few more magical pages from the sketchbook of Carl March, who will be one of our painting tutors at the Watermill next year. I love the vibrancy and the sense of movement. The sketches were inspired by the sights and sounds of the ‘Mop’ fun fair in Stratford Upon Avon in England. The ones above and below are ink and watercolour.
And here’s a pen and ink sketch, On the Waltzers:
We can’t promise you a fun fair when Carl is with us this summer, but we can promise that you will be out at stunning locations in unspoiled rural Tuscany Italy, capturing the scenery with your pencil, pen and brush. Carl calls his course at the Watermill Drawing and Painting for Pleasure and we’ll have great fun as well as pleasurable painting during his week.
Drawing and design are Carl’s passions, and he likes to experiment with various drawing mediums, combining them with traditional watercolour painting processes to create distinctively subtle works. He is also an excellent teacher. As one of his students says: “Carl has a gentle but effective way of teaching and we have learnt a lot from him. His classes are not only well planned and informative but also great fun.â€
Carl will be with us from Saturday 16 July to Saturday, 23 July 2022. Come and share the pleasure with us, with inspiring teaching, warm hospitality, stunning location, delicious food and wine and the convivial company of like-minded people. Oh, and you will be Cool and Green at the Watermill: all our rooms are air-conditioned, the part they provided by our hidden array of photovoltaic cells which make us self-sufficient in electricity.
