We would like to encourage more of you to subscribe to the free online Watermill newsletter and so we are running a competition with very special generous prize.
All you have to do is to tell us who your favourite hero/heroine/famous couple from history, literature, movies and TV shows, and say why a paragraph or two. Your entry will win you the chance to bring your nonparticipating partner with you, absolutely free, on one of our renowned painting, writing, knitting or Italian language courses.
Every month more than 1700 people receive free by email the Watermill newsletter, full of, we hope, amusing, entertaining and informative stories about painting, creative writing, knitting and Italian life. There’s news about our Watermill creative courses, too, and stories and top tips from our inspiring international tutors.
It’s easy to enter. All you have to do is to us who your favourite hero/heroine/famous couple from history, literature, movies and TV shows, and say why a paragraph or two. If she/he does not want to bring a partner, we’ll give the winner £250 off the cost of your holiday instead. Please note that this offer is for next year, 2024. This year, 2023, is pretty full already.
{Every month in our newsletter, in a section called Bring Your Partner or Friend: There’s Plenty for Them to Do, we feature a famous couple from history, literature or cinema, urging our guests to bring their non-participating partners with them to enjoy the delights of the Watermill. We make up a fictitious and, we hope, entertaining quotation to go with the pictures. Among many others, we have had Queen Victoria and Prince Albert (the Queen was amused to be contemplating a visit to the Watermill), Thelma and Louise (who, we suggested, might have had a quieter time had they come to us rather than gone on their scary road trip) and, of course, Mr Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett (Mr Darcy came without Prejudice while Elizabeth needed little Persuasion)}.
Here’s what you do for chance to win that fabulous prize:
- Tell us who’s your favourite heroine/hero/couple
- tell us why in 100 words or less
- go to the Watermill Contact Form on our website by clicking here.
- Click on the section My Heroine/Hero, fill in the form and email it to us. competition,
The adjudicators will be our Watermill writing tutor Jo Parfitt and Lois Breckon, La Padrona of the Watermill. As usual in the Parfitt and Breckon families, their final word will be law. The competition will end on 25 March 2023 and we should be able to announce a winner in time for our April newsletter.
*When you sign up for the competition, we will automatically send you our monthly Watermill newsletter, and occasionally, emails about our exciting new activities. We will not disclose your email address to any third parties.
