We are looking forward to meeting our new painting tutor Fiona Graham-Mackay for her course at the Watermill this summer. Fiona, well known in Britain for BBC series A Portrait of… , is also a talented landscape painter. Her work has covered idyllic and plein air scenes in the UK, as well as edgy landscapes in Pakistan and the Taliban country along the Afghan border.
Now she is going to lead a group capturing en plein air the magnificent scenery of unspoiled rural Tuscany around the Watermill. Fiona will be teaching in a variety of mediums: oil, acrylic, watercolour and pastel: “Each one has a unique quality and I enjoy the flexibility of using a diversity of mediums.â€
Fiona is a great teacher. This is what one of her former students says: “Fiona is the best tutor I have ever met. She is so talented, friendly, helpful and generous with her ideas. She adjusts and helps all abilities and all painting mediums. I learnt so much.â€
Don’t forget that you will be Cool and Green at the Watermill: all our bedrooms and public rooms are air-conditioned, powered by our hidden array of photovoltaic cells, which make us self-sufficient in electricity. Not only that, we have inaugurated an ‘off-setting’ project to ensure that our creative course guests this year will be ‘plastic neutral.’ Our project will stop the equivaln of some 40,000 plastic bottles zero from polluting our oceans. You can learn all about it by clicking here.
Save the planet and enjoy inspirational teaching, warm hospitality, delicious food and wine, spectacular locations and, of course, the convivial company of like-minded people.
