Louisa's Knitting project

Louisa Harding is a celebrated knitter, designer and yarn producer. She worked for many years as an ‘in-house’ designer for Rowan Yarns. Louisa has her own yarn brand Yarntelier, which specialises in Yorkshire spun Cashmere as well as designing and selecting yarns for her eponymous yarn line, Louisa Harding Yarns. Among the projects for her week here is a beaded lace edge cowl where you can draw on colours, textures and designs in the Tuscan countryside and incorporate them in your knitting.

And as ever, your knitting week at the Watermill will combine expert tuition, likeminded company, wonderful food and the delightful ambience of the Watermill, it's gardens and riverside walks, and outings into the surrounding unspoiled Tuscan countryside of Lunigiana. As one guest said: “The Watermill is an idyllic setting for a knitting course - beautifully situated on the river, you are lulled to sleep in your comfortable room by the sound of the millstream. Bill and Lois are perfect hosts and your every need is catered for: good food and drink, and visits to local places of interest, including a convent, village market and a mountain-top restaurant.”

Praise for Louisa’s previous course at the Watermill

We recently stayed for a knitting holiday and it was truly delightful in every way. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean, with a view of gardens and the river. So blissfully quiet at night! I loved that there are so many places to gather or steal off by oneself if space is needed. The meals were amazing; delicious, plentiful and varied. What a treat to have cocktails before dinner every evening and digestivi after. I'm having to adjust to "real life" now that I'm home! The outings that we were taken on were also interesting, beautiful and efficiently executed. Lois and Bill were the perfect hosts and their assistant Karsten was always at the ready if anything was needed. Finally we had so much fun meeting new friends and laughing more than we have in ages. It was a great experience and we recommend it highly! LR

Just returned from wonderful first visit to the Watermill for a fabulous week of knitting with Louisa Harding. Perfect in every way - in fact I have just booked again for next year. Lois and Bill were ideal hosts, my room delightful and the food and wine were excellent. SL
