2018 Knitting holiday programme

Each of our knitting holidays at The Watermill at Posara, Tuscany, enjoys SEVEN nights at the watermill, with full board.

We should emphasise that absolutely EVERYTHING is included in the cost of your holiday: tuition, patterns for knitting projects, accommodation (including all linen and towels), pre-dinner aperitifs, all meals (including delicious meals with wine prepared specially for you at the mill, and at charming local restaurants) and local transportation (including transfers to Pisa airport; an excursion by train to Lucca or the Cinque Terre).

All you have to do is get to Pisa (and bring your needles!): we do the rest!

2018 Programme

Lisa’s name is instantly associated with the Rowan pattern house. In addition to her designer role, she manages the pattern editing process and mentors newer members of the design team.

She says, “My biggest drive is to people create something that they will cherish for years to come”.

Lisa is an enthusiastic, sympathetic and inspirational tutor, winning much praise from her workshop participants. For her week-long course at the mill she has devised two specially designed projects for you to knit: a fairisle and textured cushion using rowan felted tweed, and a textured and lace beret worked in the round using a beautiful cashmere yarn.

Sarah Hazell - Knitting Tutor

Sarah Hazell

"Knitting and La Bella Vita"

Sarah is a designer in knit and crochet, and author of several books. She says, “I have a passion for beautiful yarn and textiles and am endlessly fascinated by colour, pattern and texture”.

Sarah’s workshop at the mill will show you to elevate your knits from homemade to handmade, in particular with cable stitch and sequence knitting. She will take you through the following projects: a cabled cowl AND a Missoni-inspired scarf OR a comfort shawl (everyone will do the cowl and you choose between knitting the scarf or the shawl).

Cabled cowl – this cowl will reflect all the twist and turns that you will encounter during your stay - from the winding landscape through to the vines at the Watermill

AND

Missoni inspired scarf – inspired by the amazing colour work of this famous Italian fashion house

OR

Comfort shawl – inspired by the roof tiles on the buildings. We will combine colour work and sequence knitting to evoke colour and texture as a starting point, leaving you free to decide on the final form of this piece, e.g., a bag/cushion or framed sample

You will have the perfect opportunity to make new friends in the company of like-minded people learning new knitting techniques and tips from Sarah ... and enjoying the true, unspoilt bella vita.
