Brioche Knitting

After years of avid hobby knitting, Sandy and her family began raising Icelandic sheep on their property in rural New Hampshire. Shortly after, she opened Twill Fabric & Yarn which has been in operation for over 12 years.

She and her family operate four small businesses in their community, and her love of knitting and all things fiber provide balance to her busy life.

Some favorite techniques include Fair Isle, colorwork in general, cables and brioche. When teaching, her favourite classes are open groups where everyone is knitting something different. This creates the opportunity to problem-solve projects with individual students and analyse their work.  At the same time,  she provides an anchoring resource so you can boldly try new things.  “This is what makes teaching exciting and fulfilling,” Sandy says.

“In our week together at The Watermill, we will knit brioche. We will split between two levels, so there is a spot for everyone. Knitters who are at a confident beginner to intermediate level but have never knit brioche will make a first cowl or scarf project. Knitters who have done some brioche will knit a bulky brioche poncho.”

Keep up to date with the latest from the Watermill
