A fresh and vibrant approach to watercolour

Pam is a professional artist and specialist art tutor based in the UK. With a keen eye for detail and a background in design Pam brings a unique perspective to her artwork. Her graphic style combines striking motifs and patterned elements with a vibrant colour palette. The rich architectural heritage and surrounding landscapes of her home in Derbyshire are a constant source of inspiration and her love of travelling is also reflected in her work. Pam regularly sketches en plein air and enjoys nothing more than sitting outside with her sketchbook, taking in the view and recording what she sees.

She has won a number of awards for her artwork and has exhibited her paintings both locally and internationally including at the prestigious Royal Institute exhibition at The Mall Galleries. Pam graduated with a BA Hons in Graphic Design and two awards from the Royal Society of Arts. She started her career as a Graphic Designer at the John Lewis Partnership. Then with an RSA travel bursary she set out on a seven month journey of discovery around India where her love of colour and pattern was indulged and saturated.

Pam’s painting course at The Watermill

Pam brings a fresh & vibrant approach to watercolour (including pen and wash).

You will be painting and sketching at the beautiful Watermill and in many inspiring locations nearby. The week will include some studio based painting activities and sketching or painting en plein air. Pam will show you how to create your own concertina sketchbook which you will use to make pen and wash sketches, which is a simple technique to master and even beginners can feel confident in creating a unique and vibrant piece of work.

“My teaching is focused on sharing ideas, enthusiasm and techniques, in a relaxed and fun way. Tuition is tailored to the class and adapted for each individual which means everyone gets a chance to develop their own personal approach. My aim as a teacher is to build your confidence and help you to achieve successful results through carefully structured activities and step-by-step guidance”
