I have taken many workshops from masters such as Alvaro Castagnet, Skip Lawrence, John Salminen and Mary Whyte. But, Andy’s workshop was one of the very best for me because he is a great artist and teacher; and, he helped me get back to the basics of the importance of breaking the scene into three major shapes of value. We were given so many great exercises and he painted at least two paintings a day to best help us to see the importance of how to imply the many details of our painting into one large, connected middle value shape. This has been a major breakthrough for me. I highly recommend Andy Evansen to beginner, intermediate and advance level watercolorists.
