Of all the hundreds of paintings of the Watermill and surroundings we have seen over the years, I think one of my favourites is the one above of the Watermill courtyard by Brienne Brown. The warmth of its colours echoes the warmth of the hospitality you will receive here, and the skill of its execution reflects the quality of our painting tutor Brienne. And don’t you just know that those people on the roof terrace are having a great time? One of them could be you, if you join Brienne when she returns to the mill for another inspiring week next year. (Details and a link below.)

Brienne M Brown, from Pennsylvania in the USA, has always been passionate about watercolour and plein air painting. (Much to her mother’s indignation, the young Brienne owned little clothing that was not covered in paint!)
She says: “I find beauty in everyday life. Each painting reminds me of where I was, the experiences I had, the sounds, smells, and the people I met — and I enjoy sharing how I see the world.â€
Using strong value sketches, bold washes, and quick energetic strokes, Brienne will show you how to bring excitement into your paintings. No experience in watercolour painting is necessary for this course, but some drawing experience is recommended.
We have a special Early Bird offer: if you book before 31 December 2022, there is a £75 (English pounds) discount on Brienne’s 2023 course.
