The striking painting above, by Watermill tutor Talbot-Greaves, in many ways sums up his unique artistic approach.
He says: “My work can be described as representational in an impressionistic style. I don’t seek to paint popular views or chase narrative within my work. Instead, I delve deep into the human senses, arranging striking compositions, play dark against light, introduce you to pattern and shadow, invoke mood, or simply reflect my own quiet contemplation.â€
We would love you to join Paul and quietly contemplate the stunning Tuscan scenery in and around the mill. You will be inspired by Paul to develop your own ‘eye’ and style as he helps you to release your talent in our beautiful surroundings.
Here is Paul’s painting of quiet road leading from Posara to the walled mediaeval town of Fivizzano:
Paul will be with us for his course in watercolours (and acrylics) from Saturday 20 August to Saturday 27 August 2022. We have ten people booked into Paul’s week, one of whom is a non-painting partner, so we have room for two more painters (and their non-painting partners if they’d like to join them.) Details and a link below.
And don’t forget you will be Cool and Green at the Watermill: all our bedrooms and public rooms (including the studio) are air-conditioned, powered by our hidden array of photovoltaic cells which make us self-sufficient in electricity.
