Have you ever thought what our fictional superheroes might have looked like in the 17th century?
Well, French photographer Sasha Goldberger has, and he has produced an amusing series of photographs imagining those superheroes as sitters for 17th-century Flemish portraits.
We are grateful, as ever, to the online DailyArt magazine for bringing them to our attention. Zuzanna Stanska says in the magazine that Goldberger “has created a quirky photo series that perfectly expresses the timeless quality of some of our favourite superheroes and villains by re-imagining them as 17th-century Flemish portrait models.â€
The superheroes are not named in these photographs: it is up to you to identify the smooth guy with the ruff above, who is is merely described as ‘a man in a mask with pointy ears.’ And here is a man with an S on his torso:
I understand the model below was a bit of a diva to work with.
