This wonderful pastel by Watermill tutor Rebecca de Mendonça was recently exhibited at the ‘Big Colyton Art Show’ in the south-west of England.
She calls it ‘A Bit of a Handful’ and it is a marvellous example of how Rebecca brings energy, life and movement to her work. As well as being inspired by horses, Rebecca also loves painting people, landscapes and architecture, and is always seeking out the atmosphere and emotion in her subjects.
Here is a lovely landscape by Rebecca: the view down our valley from the nearby mediaeval town of Fivizzano with Posara in the distance.
And talking of architecture, how about this pastel of an archway into the fortified village of Verrucola, where we go to paint on Mondays during our courses. (Before a tasty traditional lunch in the local trattoria!)
Rebecca has run several inspiring courses at the Watermill in recent years and she will be joining us again next year. She hasn’t painted any horses with us yet, mainly landscapes and architecture, but we do have horses nearby and if you’re keen for an equine excursion sure we can arrange one during her week with us. Dates and a link for Rebecca’s course below.
