I love watching artists at work, making something, as it were, out of nothing. So, this sequence of photos, of Watermill tutor Ali Hargreaves demonstrating how to create a painting a out of a sketch, is just my cup of tea!
Ali says: “I was going to make a sketch of the orange tree in your courtyard, but I was so taken by the image of Judy sitting on a bench that I sketched that instead.”
We are having great fun on Ali’s course, with guests from England and Ireland enjoying each other’s company. Today they are all off on one of our excursions, either to the beautiful seaside villages of the Cinque Terre or the quintessential Italian town of Lucca.
It is great to be running our creative courses here at the Watermill again and we are looking forward very full season next year. You can find out more by clicking here.
