You will have to hurry if you want to enjoy the colo(u)rful delights of painting with Maggie Renner Hellmann next year: 12 people are already booked in already, three of them non-painting partners. So we only have room for a couple more painters (and their partners, too, if they would like to come). The Bronzino and Uccello bedrooms are still free as we go to press. [Maggie is American so I’m trying to spell color her way, but I sometimes forget!]
Our guests always have a fun and inspiring time with Maggie, and with her husband Lou, also a talented artist, and who is there to help along, too. Maggie’s course will run from Saturday 28 May to Saturday 4 June 2022.
Maggie calls her week a Courageous Color Workshop, and among other exciting things, you will learn how fearlessly to put vibrant colour into your painting. And you can choose in which medium(s) you would like to paint: oils, acrylics, watercolors and/or pastels, the choice is yours and Maggie is skilled in teaching all of them.
Maggie Renner Hellmann is a contemporary California painter who paints with love, passion and energy. Her work is characterized by a unique blend of loose, energetic brushwork and strong compositions of exuberant color. She says: “I love the joy of color and the poetry of brushwork.â€
Maggie is also an enthusiastic tutor who has been teaching for more than 15 years – and loves it! Her workshop will cover oils, acrylics, pastels and drawing, sketching mediums including wax pastels and watercolour. She will encourage the beginner and challenge the more advanced painter. Maggie says: “In this plein air workshop, we will paint in spectacular Tuscan locations. You’ll be learning and practising the core elements of successful paintings.â€
Some comments on Maggie’s courses at the Watermill:
“Maggie is good at teaching in all mediums and with all levels. She did wonderful demos in watercolour, acrylic, pastel and oil. Every day we did critiques together and learned from each other. I highly recommend this art workshop, as well as the most wonderful accommodation with great food and wine. A little piece of heaven in experiencing Italy.â€
“An art workshop in a place like that Watermill can’t get better than that, especially with you guys as host and hostess.â€
“One of the best vacations I have ever had.â€
