Knitting and la bella vita

Profile

Renée Callahan has always loved textiles and the technical challenge of knitting: she finds a real joy in producing something both useful and beautiful. Renée studied Fashion Design with Knitwear at the prestigious Central Saint Martins College in London. She is a prolific knitwear designer and loves to combine texture and colour to create hand-knit patterns that are enjoyable to knit and remain wearable for years to come. You can see many of Renée’s designs on her website at http://eastlondonknit.com/

Renée says: “I am already planning some wonderful projects for the students, which will give us the opportunity to try out new techniques, such as brioche and slipped stitch patterns.”

As ever, your knitting week will combine expert tuition, like-minded company, wonderful food, the delightful ambience of the Watermill and outings into the surrounding unspoiled Tuscan countryside of Lunigiana.

Comments from Renée’s previous students

I have tried brioche knitting several times and kept getting frustrated. That all changed after taking class with Renée. She is an absolute delight and incredibly knowledgeable. With humour and grace, she taught a group of knitters with different knitting styles and varying experience levels how to tackle the brp, the brk, and everything in between. Her class was fun, engaging, and filled with useful tips and tricks. If you are an experienced knitter or just starting out, Renée’s courses offer something for everyone! Corie W.

The class was very well prepared and organized. Renée showed with great patience repeatedly all techniques teaching every participant very well. Furthermore, she answered all questions with profound knowledge. The class was very inspiring and enlightening and made everyone wish that we could knit all day long. Svenja
