Soft pastels

Paul says:  “In this painting workshop we will be looking for tone and rhythm in the landscape. We will be working mainly en plein air, but we may also work from drawings done on site, as well as trying some interiors and still life.  The aim will be to learn how to simplify form, and to deliver the message in slashes of pastel. You will pick up new skills in glazing and what I call “wetting down” pastel.  Above all, you can expect a creative and fun learning experience.”

Paul McCarthy FRAS (born in Sydney, 1966) has a unique understanding and approach to colour and landscape. He formally trained in painting and drawing and then Architectural Drafting, before obtaining a diploma in logistics management. He works in all mediums (Watercolour, Oils, Pastel, Drawing and Acrylic) but his Pastels illustrate his drawing skills combined with intuitive colour harmonies and tonal passages.

Paul is a multi-award winner and his highly prized works are sought after by corporate and private collectors in Australia and the rest of the world.  He is represented by the Rochfort Gallery, North Sydney, and more information about his art can be found here: https://rochfortgallery.com/artist/paul-mccarthy-16529
