  • Blakeney Hotel, Norfolk: Watercolour
Home of many a painting holiday, The Blakeney hotel is a very popular scene to paint, the boats moored on the bank give the place a real Norfolk feel. Painted on a painting holiday in Norfolk.
  • Woodbridge, Suffolk : Oil
One of my favorites, typical Suffolk boat scene lovely white buildings not too much going on in the sky, but it has a warm clean appeal. This scene has been painted a number of times by various artists, it's a timeless classic. This painting was part of my "Art Of Oil Painting" book published in2005.
  • Loch Ranza, Scotland: Oil
Loch Ranza in Scotland. Beautiful big open scene with a massive great sky, and just one tiny focal point, the castle in the distance. Notice I've made the foreground slightly out of focus so that the eye is not stopped from going into the painting. This painting was part of my "Art Of Oil Painting" book published in 2005.
  • Drydock at Holy Island: Watercolour
Northumberland has a fabulous coastline and I tend to do a lot of painting in these parts. This painting is of a dry dock at Holy Island, I remembering having to hurry slightly to beat the bad weather coming up from the south. Painted on a painting holiday in Northumberland.

Charles Evans studied at Lincoln College of Art and finally turned to the medium of watercolour.

As Charles says, “Watercolour is the traditional English medium because, as many artists have discovered, it captures the beautiful sense of atmosphere, haziness, dampness and watery skies of the British landscape”.

As well as being on TV, Charles is now one of the leading demonstrators for Daler-Rowney and demonstrates all over the country. He is also making videos for a company called Teaching Art as well as venturing into producing his own videos and DVDs.

Charles now lives in the wilds of Northumberland, writing, doing stage shows, workshops and demonstrating to art societies all over the country as well as holding painting holidays in the UK and Europe.
